Greetings.

Sodding vandals have been at my car. I left it parked in Kingston-Upon-Thames for a few hours on Thursday evening. When I came back it had the contents of someones garden re-planted all over it, complete with terracotta pots & palm trees. OK, I thought, bloody students! That was until I got into the car, turned the key & tried to drive off...

To cut a long story short, some absolute w@nkah has ripped all the wiring out from underneath the car & swapped the connectors around. Same thing down the gap in the bonnet by the radiator fans. They've also ripped the hoses off the where they could, damaged the AC pipe, forced all the balancing weights off the wheels, screwed around with the brakes, loosened the wheels & buggered around with the settings on my suspension. Got some lovely new scratches now too, y'know, just to round things off nicely...

Oh, yeah, I'm also now missing the surround for the petrol filler ball/cap thingy, as that's been prized off as well. Anybody have any idea where I could lay my hands on a new one please? frown

Cheers ta.

Mr H

Very sorry to hear of this, jealousy is a horrible trait! Hopefully you'll get it all sorted out and back to former glory!

that is absolutely appalling.

I sincerely feel for you as I am sure other forum members do too.

I would be mortified if that had happened to mine; jealous scumbags with nothing better to do thinking the world owes them a living.

I may have a surround, which one? the one with screws or the one without?

Hope everything is easily sorted.

Sick to my stomach! This is appalling! Any ideas who? Did you talk to Police as there might be discreet CCTV around, a shop or police cameras.

Absolutely gutted for you Tym. It’s a shame no one reported it, they must have made a hell of a racket. I caught 2 guys ripping bits of my Golf Gti years ago and quickly dispatched a bit of mindless violence. Not the thing to do but it went some way to relieving my anger and disbelief at what the two drunken kn*bheads were doing.

I hope you get to sorted quickly.

That is shocking. I'm so sorry for you.

It still sounds like students, just the modern type.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your replies! smile

I have calmed down considerably now. I was about ready to murder someone after spending nearly 5 hours in the p1ddling rain, soaked & covered in ste, in me fancy goin' out clothes, whilst discovering the extent of/trying to sort out the horror, in the wee-small hours of Thursday night/Friday morning!

I dunno, it seems too specific & sophisticated to just be random. The settings on the (brand new) suspension for instance, which are a bee-hutch to get at, & it's a right filthy job. They were set to F N/S=1, F O/S=7, R N/S=9, R O/S=3. (I thought the car was handling a bit funny!) Only had them fitted about a month ago & they don't just randomly re-set themselves now do they...

I think that I have an idea who might be responsible, the problem is proving it. My house mate is actually a firearms officer & he's been a great help. Unfortunately, Surrey police don't want to know & there were no cameras pointing at the car (which was parked outside a friends pub).

Cheers pal! It was the one without the screws, (although, screws might not be such a bad idea).

I forgot to mention that the HT leads were swapped around & connected out of sequence to the wrong injectors/ECU etc., there were assorted bolts, screws & clips removed/missing & oil p1ssing from a missing bleed valve.

Looks like they've loosened/undone the front nearside engine mount as I've just had that replaced too, but the engine now appears to be supporting itself by means of the manifold which is leaning on the bodywork.

I am wondering if there's something else that I've missed, as she's been running like a bag of ste since. I just got her back from a 12,000 mile service, tune-up & fettling last month as well! frown

Edit; Oh dear, the coolant system was connected to the windscreen washers & it looks like there's water/washer fluid in the oil...

Is this a wind up ?? They,d have needed a garage to do all that amount of damage surely??

Bad news and hop you get it sorted.

It does sound very bizarre - what you describe would have taken quite a while to do and would need someone with a bit of knowledge of the car. Is there more to it than "vandalism"?

Nope, not a wind up. I wish it was! I can post pictures of some of the weirdness if you like. I keep uncovering more & more stuff that's been messed with. I'm starting to think that perhaps it wasn't all done on Thursday. The car was parked up there for a good four hours after the pub shut though...

Surely there has to be?! It's really freaking me out! I can't understand how the hell they got under the bonnet to the HT leads etc. Someone with a grudge/mental problems. I do have an idea who it might be...

Crikey, sorry to hear this. It isn't hard to pop the bonnet from outside if you know how (as I found out on Saturday since my bonnet pull pulled and didn't work). I suggest you take the car to a specialist and get it checked over 100%, who knows what else could be wrong.

Just thinking, can you spot any screws in the tyres? Any damaged brake lines (crimped maybe, not cut).
