Finally finished and home!
Discussion
Picked up the car after a fair amount of work, driving back and thinking the power does not feel quite right.
Managed to find that the rod that connects to the throttle pedal had popped out and was only giving me 60% throttle. I fixed it, now this is the car that I remember! just looking like new and lower.
Went out this afternoon and fell in love all over again!
Some pics
I just need to sort out some speakers and some mats for over the new carpets. Also perhaps a new Momo steering wheel.
Anyone think it will look better with centre caps?

Looks fantastic Lee.
I'd say yes to adding centre caps. Doesn't quite look finished without them.
Really good end result though. It's a beauty!
ETA - Do you prefer the drive of that or the 964? Just wondered. I never got on with my impact bumper car but loved the 964s. Sold my Turbo yesterday. Most likely going for a GT3 or 360 but I do keep wondering whether to give the older stuff another go.

that looks gorgeous. Any more info on the build and final spec?
Thank you, I have just refreshed the suspension and brakes and had the car pretty much fully painted. The engine had a full rebuild 3k miles ago at Francis Tutthills and pulls like a train. Really shocked how quick the car is. Im assuming its around 250bhp and I had it weighed last week at 1130kg but running on fumes.
Just bedding the new exhaust in which is a Turbo Thomas custom build. Sounds great but not too loud.

definately. Have you decided what to do with it yet mateJust going to enjoy the car for now. Love older Porsches. So much fun to be had at lower speeds, fighting with the steering wheel and feeling everything through the wheels.

My 964 was quite a focused and raw car when I finished with it but I found it a bit soft before. The 3.2 has always been very raw however I found them very similar to drive although the 3.2 with lack of power steering provided a more involving drive.
The 964 was quick as it had cams, exhaust, map, throttle body, RS flywheel and all of this made for a very quick car at 1220kg.
Now the 3.2 is finished at 1130kg performances I would be hard pushed. The 964 was cammy whereas the 3.2 is more linear.
The 964 had a sharper turn in but it had coilovers, cage and very stiff ARB's. The 3.2 is a bit softer with higher profile tyres and a bit softer suspension but this all adds up to providing loads of fun at lower speeds.
Both great cars!
Go for GT3 mate, proper car you can put miles on without worrying.
The 360 is not really that quick by modern standards.
If you can go to a 430 then great but if not then GT3 all the way.
Whatever you choose, enjoy!
Cheers for the info. 1130KGs is good going, especially since you still have a nicely trimmed interior etc.
That 964 of yours was something else!
I can't stretch to a 430 and to be honest if I could I'd be buying a 996 GT3RS as that's my dream car and as high up the Porsche or Ferrari ladder as I ever want to climb really. The Fezzas win it on noise though.
I'll just see what turns up by next spring.
Good luck with the sale of the 3.2, if that's still what you're doing. Very cool car.

.....Love the duck tail.....love the wheels.....love the car......but would have to get some decent seats and a different steering wheel....but apart from that.....nice.
Thanks Madala, I got these seats as they are nearly 10kg lighter each than the 8 way elec items and are still original Porsche items. They allow me to use a child seat which Im not sure Recaros would?!?I agree on the steering wheel however the original wheel looks loads better in the flesh, for some reason it photos terribly.
I think I will get a momo ordered.

The car looks lovely but I'm intrigued why it has an early reflector and no reverse or fog lights, and also why the carpet doesn't seem to cover the bottom of the gear lever?
Well spotted.I bought a older style reflector from Impact Bumpers when I started the project to go with the rest of the 74 style look. I soon realised it was a much bigger task than I expected to change it.
I will get a fog light integrated which is a mod a few of the guys on Impact Bumpers has done, Nick Moss (early 911) puts a nice one together.
The carpet kit is Southbound and thats how it comes cut, Im waiting for the centre console to arrive which will obviously cover that part and house the currently hidden hazard and rear windo heating switches.

Thanks mate, really not sure. Just commited on a new house and have pushed myself to be honest. The plan was to sell and use the cash, then put 10-15k deposit on a GT3 in a few months time.
I'm glad your getting a new house, your old squalid one quite frankly looks an absolutely horrendous place to live
Enjoy the gt3 if you get one, certainly one of the all time great Porsches IMO.
