What wedding car would you hire?

ok I'm getting married. We're on a budget so I wasn't going to hire a wedding car for the day, but I may have a look around to see if I can get something a bit 'nice' for not much money. Just a rental car for the day or weekend, not with driver and all that.

What would you go for?

Save it for the honeymoon if I were you. You'll spend so little time in / near the car on the day (plus the nerves, etc) that aside from the photos it's not worth it.

Ask a friend with a barge to take you to the venue, then splash the cash on something fun on the honeymoon?

Exactly what we did. Car will get used for a really short space of time .... not worth the expense and extra hassle.

Yup. Though technically we went ice driving in Sweden in 911s. Which was less than the cost of hiring a wedding car....

They are quite expensive though, so any one of the list of American muscle cars I must drive will do. I am buying at least one though.

Some receptions will lay on a car for free, the hotel we used had a bentley turbo, cost us nothing extra, was perfect for the occasion.

My Rover 213S is still available to hire, just finished some film work at Pinewood.

My Panda would be good. Roof open and happy couple sat on the tail roof cross member for photo's if it's sunny and roof closed if it rains.

Completely agree.

Unless you own a car that's spectacular, don't hire one. Just make sure that whatever it is that takes you there is clean and respectable - like the day itself.

Unless the money is insignificant to you, I wouldn't splash too much. It's such an insignificant part of the day. We went for a silver 530i (E39), lovely red leather interior. Cheap as chips. Leaves more cash to splash on honeymoon (or alcohol )

ok looking at weekend hire there aren't many places that do it easily. This place near me has a fairly standard merc for weekend hire of £164. Tried europecar online quote thing and it wants like nearly 500 quid for anything remotely fancy eg a mini cabriolet. Getting married next weekend so not much time to sort anything. We were going to use a family car but I just thought today I'd have a look into it. Needs to be near me to pick up etc.
