GB ladies starting off their campaign now. 1-0 up against the Japanese.

For the non-hockey players amongst you there are a few hotties in the GB side.

However 60 million people in these Isles and they can't find a commentator who knows the rules of hockey. BBC really is desperate.

This guy always commentates on gb hockey, I don't know the rules that well but my wife plays and it frustrates her like mad! The Antipodean pair that are commentating on the other games are much better.

I caught Ausy v NZ women this morning.

Shocking refereeing - even with video assist they missed a blatant pen.

Expect better at an event like this.

Keeping an eye on Team GB's men, Glen Kirkham's wife was my youngests school teacher!!

One question, do they play on a sponge? It always seems sopping wet when they play!

It's astro turf... plastic grass. Sometimes infilled with sand or rubber pellets, or water.



It's a bit like playing on short, wet grass except it doesn't get muddy and it's much more flat. They water it before it's played on and you can over do it, especially if it rains.
