I'm putting my Z4 up for sale which has a private plate on it, I will be keeping my E39 for the foreseeable.

I was planning on just transferring the plate from the Z4 (which is SORN'd) and moving it to the E39, but just want to check that there will be no problems in getting an age-related plate that could hold up the sale?

I'm assuming that the DVLA issue the new plate (and V5) and I can just get them made up even though the car is SORN'd?

Don't want anything happening that could delay the sale! Thanks in advance for any confirmation smile

If you transfer it, you will then ave to pay to transfer again if thts what you intend to do. At least on retention the part where you put it on the next car is free. (although retention is iirc £25 more)

You will get an age plate for the z4, if it has had one in the past will be the same, if not a new one issued. To get plates you just need proof of id and the dvla letter, no insurance required.

I retained mine last time, took a week roughly, that was on a car that had never had a normal plate.

Great, that's fine then, it seems pointless to put it on retention when I have another car sat there for it to go onto smile

Cheers!
