Hi all,
Looking to get rid of the Orange MTB and get back into road cycling. Aim is to do local riding and the occassional sportive once the fitness is back. From another thread I have found the following bike and it appears to be well specced (although I would like internally routed cable but I imagine these are out of my £1k price range).

I previously owned a Boardman road comp (105 spec) and it was great to ride, so I'm looking for something on a par or better.
Are there any other bikes that should be considered at this price point?

I like get my bike with 5 weeks of paying for it, I like my bike to arrive assembled, to have a place to take it back to if I have a problem and I rather enjoyed seeing my bikes manufacturer do well in the TDF.
As an ownership experience, I'm happy to pay the bit extra.
I agree that Ribble, Canyon and Planet-X all provide amazing value for money but the whole buying sight-unseen counted against it for me.
Having set myself a budget of £1000 I was all set to buy myself a Ribble when I wandered into my LBS just to see what they sold for the same amount.
One test ride later I'd convinced myself that a Cube Peloton Race was the way forward. I traded a carbon frame for a better 105 groupset but the main deciding factor were the guys in the shop. Some useful advice (hadn't ridden a pure road bike for years), some tweaks to ensure I rode away from the shop on a bike that fitted me proerly, a few freebies and two free services did it for me. Plus a discount whenever I pop back for bits and pieces all played their part.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the better value bikes available on the net but its the guys down the road for me.

Factor in the discount I've had on all th accessories/clothing I've bought and I'm probably better off.
I bought a Ribble as it was great VFM. The geometry of the frame was very similar to my last bike, in fact it is comfier than my last. They were great when I spoke to them on the phone as they didnt have the wheels Id speced in stock. They sorted me out another set with no extra charge and the bike arrived 4 days later, had to whack on the bars, pedals and seat and ride it. The gears and brakes were perfect and I only had to do a slight gear adjustment last week and thats since Feb! I know of a fella who bought one of their MTB frames last month and he has been in and out of the shop buying bits for it and cant rate them highly enough, they have been very helpfull to him.
