Peculiar behavior regarding the back button

Often I find I need to press "back" twice to return to a former screen in PH but today I noticed my "back" history was full of adtag URLs - hundreds of them - so I couldn't go back.

Now I'm using Windows Vista with IE9 but this only happens with PH - other sites are OK.

And although PH is one of my default IE pages, sometimes if I "back" to the original page it is no longer the PH home page. One of the pages I've subsequently viewed has become the home page (no further "back" history).

Hope this makes some sort of sense.

Yep I've noticed this - if I drop down the back arrow list the list says something like "Loading iFrame page" as an intermediate stage.

I've noticed this too.

Also another issue (probably related) if I go from main forum list, click onto a subject (eg. 'General Gassing') then into a posting. Clicking the back button correctly takes me to the 'General Gassing' page. Then weirdly sometimes clicking the back button again, rather than taking me to the forum list opens up the posting again. I have to click the back button once again to the to the forum list.

I hope that makes sense?

I know exactly this - I've had it a few times of late too.

May I join in the misery too. As said, sporadic but, it takes me three clicks of the back button, not two.

Usually takes 3 clicks of the 'back' button in Opera and I've no idea why. It's even worse on vBulletin forums, usually takes 4 clicks to get back out of a thread, so not just this site for me.

It's doing it again tonight. I've upgraded to Win7 too, with IE9 so I doubt it's because of my own PC-build. This time I had pages of the following link in my "back" history:

Sir, If you've built your own pc, why are you not using a decent browser like Chrome/FireFox/Opera?

Yes, in that I can't replicate this issue on Chrome/IE/Firefox/Opera here at PH Towers. It could be to do with how IE handles loading iframes within another page (for instance our adverts) as a separate load event and there for an entry in the back button.
If you keep a tab on what Ads are showing when this issue appears we might be able to work something out.

I have now found this happens on Ebay too, so probably something exploiting IE. Google hasn't been terribly helpful so far.

I get the problem aswell. I think it happens on nearly all websites. I don't tend to use the back button now, so I'm not bothered about it. I'm using IE8.

I haven't had it happen at all today. Mind, I downloaded the latest driver software mid-morning (Microsoft cordless mouse).

This is happening to me. I thought it might be my pc, but it's happening on the laptop, running XP, and my main one running Win7.

Does anyone in PH towers have any ideas why it's happening?

It's not just PH but it is related to the adverts implanted on PH.

The same happens on Ebay.

Can anyone remember how to edit the hosts file to stop ads from appearing at all? That might remove this problem.
