Well I have been creaming over the griff and chimp since I was a boy', I remember seeing them in a car mag my dad bought and thought I need one of them! No I'm in a position to start looking for the right one however I have never sat in one! I was small then now I'm 6"6 big built and with a belly, will I get in to one ok? Any big fellas out there who have a chimp?

Yu might get in with the roof off !! I'd see if there's anyone in your area that would be able to take you out for a spin. I'm 6'1 and (granted with seats that sit a bit higher than the standard one's) my head is nearing the top with the roof on...or maybe that's just my hair. Either way, with an extra 5 inches on me i think you might feel a bit cramped. Tuscan may be the way to go ....

I have to say, I am probably agreeing with this.
At 6'1" I have never found leg room a problem, but head room is another matter altogether with the lid on.
The little button on top of my baseball cap has nearly gone through my skull a few times on big bumps.
However, Haircut Mike's seat mod may be a suitable solution.
Seems a shame not to try it and see...

Good luck with it.

The techno-expert who services my car is 6 foot 7 and can drive it - just.....but he doesn't have your survival rations around the waist. His knees aren't quite around he ears, but not far off. To be honest I think you might struggle to be comfortable for more than 5 minutes in a Chimp. I am 6 foot and not exactly porky, and have to have the seat reclined and fully back to get a good driving position. The problem is that the seat simply cannot go far enough back for you.

I remember reading somewhere years ago that all "modern" TVR's were designed to fit Peter Wheeler who was as we all know 6'6".

I am almost 6'2" and have no problem atall in the Chimaera.

I'm about 6'3 or 4 and don't have any problems at all.

I don't know whether my seats are lower than standard, but I seem to have plenty of headroom with the roof on.

Don't forget that the pedals can be adjusted fore and aft quite a distance. Also, my car has it's drivers seat raised by a previous owner (at a dealers) using 1" box section so check for this mod also, as it's easy to undo this change, although I don't know if this is at all common. Happily plenty of room for me at only 5'10" -ish though, even with a higher seat.

6 foot 6 inches in my stocking feet and 22 stone,no space issues......head does connect with roof occaisionally but if you are reading the road ahead properly then you know when to duck and of course i'm talking about Irish roads,on my 5th TVR by the way

I tried test driving a mk2 mx5 last year (might be slightly different to a mk1) but I could hardly fit in there.
My leg was right up against the door (couldn't wind the windows down!)

Seems like loads more room in the chim.

I think most of us on this forum would say that you need to wear a skirt and high heels to drive an mx 5. This is also suitable attire, below the waist, for driving a griff. Above the waist its the usual shirt open to the navel, revealing the stuck on hairy chest and large fake gold medallion. Oh and the piece de resistance, the black, perm tight curled wig and mirror sunglasses.

Priceless........biglaugh..........biglaugh.......yes
