Anyone heading to Prescott this weekend?

We're going Friday, camping, coming home Sunday morning, I'd love to stay but we've got things to do.

Yep. But not in anything exotic. Just the Caterham 7 if it's not raining.

Always a great day out.

I shall be there on the Sunday in the Standard, unless it is pissing it down, then I shall either be in the Skoda, the MINI or my dad's Jaguar. One of the best days out of the year. Not to be missed.

I'll be there Roy and taking pictures for some of our VSCC chums! I just hope it isn't pouring with rain but even then the pictures could be interesting.

For those who are not regular Vintage car scene participants, the lower picture above shows one of the bravest drivers it is possible to find. It is Don Day in ERA R14B which he has owned and raced since 1958, originally carrying it on board his ship whilst a marine engineer, it has been raced all over the World but in 1995 he had a serious accident at Silverstone whilst taking part in a VSCC race and was badly hurt losing his left arm completely. That has not stopped him though and he was racing again the following year and does so to this day. The car has some small changes to the pre-selector control so that he can drive it one handed. So what you see here is Don making a fast run up Prescott, single handed, changing up/down the 'box whilst still steering this quick car. I think him one of the most impressive drivers possible to find who still tries very hard in a well prepared car. I don't know if he will be a Prescott this year but he normally is along with other ERA's, one of my very favourite cars.

Fascinating Richard - thanks for the info. Don Day sounds an absolute hero! bow

It is a long time since I was last at Prescott but this thread has prompted me to arrange a visit this Sunday. I hope the weather will be kind to us and the cars.

This event is a relatively unknown jewel in the motorsport crown, you'll love it.

Cockpit view (Prescott 2011) of ERA R14B - originally driven by Johnny Wakefield, then post-war by Bob Gerrard and then Donald Day.

Vintage Prescott is the VSCC's biggest meeting of the year - fantastic location, great competition and a huge vintage car park. cloud9

The beer's good too!

I will be there - and competing

Shared 35B - number 765 or 265 depending on who is running.

As others have mentioned this is an unmissable event - see you there

My favourite weekend of the year, and I got an entry too! For those visiting for the first time, look out for Mark Walkers 1905 200HP Land Speed Record Darraq and James Baxters Alvis-Nash Single Seater.

Really looking forward to this Sunday smile

Latest forecast doesn't look too clever but it won't stop me going!

Was hoping to go tomorrow but O/H booked lunch in my absence at a local eatery and as it's an anniversary, she wins. Have a great weekend.

A bit (well very) wet at Lunchtime, but a good day.

For a change, did it as a day trip (in the golf), monsoon conditions at Marlborough, both ways.
Arrived at about 9am to watch the cars arriving in the Orchard- including dad in Sunbeam and brother in A7. Bit of a natter in the paddock, lunch in the car and then watched the second runs from the auction house area. I wonder if I can find room in the garage for their Alfa? smile

It was a bit moist. Difficult picnicing holding a brolly in one hand and a plate in the other. wink

But a great day out, lovely turnout of cars in the orchard. Weather spoilt the hill climb a little but total respect to the drivers for still going for it.

Prescott on VSCC weekend is one of my favourite places; lovely scenic views, great cars and lots of nice friendly people.

Had an absolutely wonderful day yesterday smile Even the short "monsoon" around lunchtime didn't spoil it and, yes, the beer was excellent too.

I uploaded a short video taken while I wandered around (I would have taken more but my camera battery gave up the ghost ...).

It includes a few shots of competitors and their cars. If any of you are VSCC Members feel free to post a link to the video on the VSCC Forum as some of them may be interested in seeing themselves!

Excellent video, thanks for posting. It was a wonderful, if rather moist, day. If I can get my VSCC login to work I shall post it up.

An excellent weekend as always but with more mud than usual... Here's some pictures from the Esses on Sunday:

Just a shame the Caravinn ran out of beer so early on Saturday night...
