Educational requirements to work in Baku

I guess its no different to many other countries in that they leave it fairly vague and decide on a case by case basis.

Baku is tricky
For rotas they expect bsc or above for in country ie no rotation no formal degree is required which seems crazy

I got knocked back due to my lack of degree a few years ago

Also depends on the company he is going in with if they can persuade the immigration to give him a visa - it depends on how much they want him in the position

Thanks guys, the lack of degree seems to be the issue, however over here there is no degree required to fulfil such a position, the employer is keen to get him in this particular role as its exactly the same role as he is doing here, so will require zero training to carry it on over there. The project they are on does not really have a timescale to allow training which is why they want my mate to move

The ball is in the employer's court here - they have to make the initial running. They need to contact the relevant government department in Baku and work out whether it's feasible, and most likely whose palm needs to be greased.

That is exactly what I was thinking, it seems bizarre that someone who doesn't need a degree to carry out a discipline over here would require one in another country.

If the green light is shone, it would help set him up for the future

I was there only last week! I'm Team Leader on a project running through to end of next year. Not needed to be in situ full time but still intensive nonetheless.

Not sure what industry your friend is in but I only have a post grad degree (DipM). Experience and references were more than sufficient.

Have grown quite fond of the place. People are great, bit scruffy in parts but there's a certain charm about the place. There are some practices worth being aware of and happy to provide some on-the-ground advice if needed.

Thanks Stevie, the advice would be more than welcome if it eventually happens.

In your case it seems that common sense prevails, experience and references will hopefully be enough in this instance too, we will find out tomorrow for certain, we are hoping the management within the company decide that they would prefer to pursue getting someone with direct experience of the job than someone with a degree/further education into the country.

Just re read the top link and it says about 50000 AZ being deposited into Azeri banks, would this be by the specific individual or by the company itself? If its the company I'm fairly certain that would cover it, as it's a huge contract with an oil company that's involved
