I believe there is now a thing called a tel-e-fone, apparently it used to work brilliantly, but then someone invented a cowards way of contacting your intended victim & people on the end of this new form of medium got seriously peeved that you had to spend hours replying to everybody with access to the WWW that didn't have the balls to pick up a tel-e-fone.

But anyway, I think the dealer is trying to say the car could do with some work, not doing themselves any favours advertising in this way but ho hum, about £15K would be my guess.

Cheers.

Just asked that's all. I sent an email didn't get a reply and by the time I got home it was late so wondered if anyone else had enquired. .....

No idea what RPM want for theirs but you will get this one for £12,500:

...which is a pretty good price for a decent condition C2 coupe IMO.

RPM are top chaps so just give Des, Nick or Andy a ring and have a chat. Des only likes to deal in good quality cars and really goes to town on his preparation.

Beware though a visit to these guys can take some time as you are likely to end up chatting and chatting and chatting.

I would also advise calling rather than email, there are only the three of them and they are extremely busy at this time of year so you are more likely to get a response on the phone.

I have no affiliation other than as a satisfied customer that has had his ear bent after spending too long (and too much money) chatting and not getting home on time.

Yes, I've met the owner and the car a few times. It's a sound starting point for a 964 C2 IMO.

The RPM car would be worth investigating. The other red car doesn't appear to sit right - especially the front end.

They seem to be posing it as a project car - read into that what you like, but they do seem to be reputable by all accounts (but don't know them personally).

I have seen the car and know the garage who are selling it.
They work on my 911.
Des Lynam is who you need to speak to he's the commercial guy. (that is his name by the way ;-))
He's a mate of mine if you are interested in the car let me know, & i'll call him.

Cheers Ed

Indeed, it needs new suspension. Hence why I said it's a good starting point. I think it's pretty much original suspension but may have been tinkered with by previous owners...you know the sort of thing where they have a shock or two changed to get through an MOT but leave the rest of it, which of course is now over 20 years old. Mine was pretty much the same when I got it but I sorted it out by having a proper job done - KWV3, polybushed, geo, etc. The current owner knows the same needs doing to his but can't afford it, hence why it's up for sale at a cheap price (relative to a properly sorted 964).

If you don't mind me asking what was the aprox cost of this on a 964 (thinking of an air - cooled car to go alongside my 996 Turbo)

£2,300 all in three years ago (I think the KWV3 kit has gone up by about £250 since then). It made a huge difference and has been worth every penny. smile

Personally, I would go for new Bilstein dampers on a 964. Far cheaper and will be just as good/fast. My 996 happens to have KW V3s and while they are good for sharp handling, they are fairly harsh for no good reason. I wouldn't bother with poly bushes either unless it was primarily for track use. But fresh stock bushes are always a good idea if the suspension is worn out. Basically, there is massive improvement potential from simply fitting fresh dampers and bushes without actually 'upgrading' anything except perhaps the damper and spring rates, which are a bit soft on a stock 964.

Can't argue with you that Bilsteins and new springs are good enough for the road. That combination seems to be the popular choice for most people renewing their 964 suspension. Mine was always meant to be biased for track, hence the KWs. However, I've been pleasantly surprised how good they ride on the road, especially when the bump and rebound are softened up. I also agree that standard new bushes are just as good. However, you have to buy the whole arm as the Porsche bushes are not available separately and those new arms are getting silly expensive now!
