Whats your best time round the Nurburgring and what in?

Sub 8.30 btg is respectable for standard car, but tf days are pot luck with traffic anyway so it'll vary quite drastically with how much traffic you encounter. I did 8 22 in a bog standard car, mate did 8 09 on r888 and no interior both laps with traffic but not that bad.
Just go and enjoy yourself, lap times don't really matter. Tf days should be treated as fast backroad pace anyway. Imo

Many people won't get under ten minutes, the record for an M3 E46 is 8.22 so with traffic and no intimate knowledge of the track it's not reasonable to get anywhere close to that.Just go and enjoy yourself, lap times don't really matter. BTG on a TF day, which is probably what he'll be doing. 30 sec slower than a full lap i think? someone will know exactly.He asked what a fast lap was for a stock e46 m3, so sub 8 30 is respectable, low 8s good imo.

Oil temperatures were massive, and the engine expired a few months later.
My first trip I was no-where near 10mins in an MR2 Turbo (never seen the track before).

I have my grumpy head on this morning so I'm going to be the first to point out that chasing lap times on your first visit to the 'Ring is a very, very silly thing to do.
The grumpiness also causes me to point out that it's people off t'interweb banging on about lap times that is one of the main reasons why the 'Ring has been, effectively, sh*t for about the last 5 years.

On my first (and so far only) trip round the Nordshleife in my M3 Evo, I recorded my lap on a small video camera and watching back, it was a 12 minute lap.
I was held up by slower cars a lot of the time, but every time I wanted to overtake, a glimpse in the mirror showed a load of much faster GT3's and the like all bearing down on me at a much faster rate than I was running at. In the interests of self-preservation, I waited for that faster traffic to pass, and then managed to overtake.
I would echo the previous post and forget about lap times, you will end up having an accident. Just enjoy driving the track at a decent pace and keep out of harms way.

I didn't intentionally time myself, but this thread promoted me to watch a couple of vids from my first trip out to the 'ring in 2007. According to the footage of my last lap of the first day, I got round in 9mins 33 secs in my pretty much standard Nissan 200sx, and I was sweating at the end - it's a long old lap of concentration!
Agree with other peeps, don't worry about timing, get out and get a feel for the place. You'll soon realise that on your first trip to the 'ring, 100% of your concentration needs to be on keeping your motor on the black stuff and out of the way off other (faster) metal, not on timing yourself.

I've no idea how long it took for me to slither round in the 535. All I know is that it was fun and I didn't die. Those two things were enough for me. Those two things kept happening every lap.
I do know that the two most tedious people I've met in the last ten years were the two guys in my hotel talking about doing 8 minute laps in their Seats. They offered me a ride for "a proper lap" but even if it had been 8 minutes it would have felt like hours because they were so tedious.
Although I might not care about lap times because I'm not very fast. I lack objectivity.

I first went with one other mate (bikes). His best idea of the day was that we should not set off together, but should start five minutes apart, thereby avoiding the temptation to race each other.
We did compare times afterwards, though; how could you not?

I know what you mean. Granted, there are cars coming the other way so you have to keep in your lane, but what the hell.
