A bit more work and a bit more money, but the Zetec is a much better engine to start with than the rough DOHC lump.

I don't know all the answers but I was looking at a Mk2 Escort on Friday that was running a Ford 2 ltr DOHC on Carbs.

This would be better in the Ford section.

Isnt that dohc a similar overall shape and configuration to the actual YB cosworth 4 pot? If youre going to go to that much effort to make that type of engine fit, surely that would be the one to go for. Otherwise as said, the zetec is a very well trodden path with lots of existing kits and knowledge to make it longditudinal.

DOHC efi will fit but zetec will not fit into my Spartan, no room at back of the engine for coilpack and water pipes only 20mm would have to cut out the bulk head and make a new tunnel move battery wireing, brake pipes.

Coilpack can be moved and you will need an aftermarket water rail thats thinner. The Spartan engine bay is very big.
