A brown Burmese with lots of hair and some bloody fleas/insects that are hard to catch!
He was not happy but oddly liked it around the bottom of the ears, but not when I sucked his ear in accidentally!

I have given him regular vet strength Frontline but he still gets them and scratches away. I couldn't find any eggs or anything just the odd "thing". I just checked after he'd calmed down and he seems to not have any.

So what options are there if Frontline does not get rid of the fleas?

If Frontline isn't working, try one of the other spot-on products - speak to your vet. If there is somewhere the cat is going which is infested with fleas, even with spot-on the cat will still pick them up.

I've heard from a number of sources that 'Frontline' is no longer effective against fleas since they've become resistant to it.

Advocate / Advantage are what 'cat people' locally use. Advocate may be vet-only.

Just switched all four of our pets across to Advocate as Frontline just doesn't seem to be working any longer. Vet insists it's still the best product for the job but guaging by the fleas on my Spaniel I have to disagree & my OHs Westie has a flea allergy.

Get a flea comb as well and use it daily.

No, "VET". It's like a doctor for animals.

Our vet also said frontline is not as effective as it once was.

They suggested a seresto collar and use indorex flea spray on the house.

Used it for years on all of our cats, had 4 at one stage. Always worked and said what it did on the tin so to speak.

Not anymore, it seems they changed the formulae a couple of years ago and it then had no effect on our cats.

We now used a similar application product called "Advantage" works a dream.

Your welcome, really hope it works for your cat, nothing worse than seeing a cat scratching away to try and get rid of the annoyance of fleas.

I just administered Advantage.
Do the fleas jump ship or do they just die and stay on the cat?

He is acting very strangely! hehe

They just seem to disappear, probably it's the cool of the liquid placed between the ears.

Neither of ours now even bother to run off after application. If the skin feels a little "scabby" under the fur that will also clear up in about a week or so. smile
