Cycling to Olympics with children - some advice please

Hi All,

I am thinking of travelling to the Lee Valley slalom event along the canal toepath from Hertford. It's a journey of approximately 13 miles and it's all flat. I'm trying to work out how long I might expect it to take my 10 year old son and 7.5 yr old daughter and whether it would be expecting a bit much from them. I've really no idea what sort of speed they would be capable of over that distance as we usually just potter along on our bikes and we've never ridden that far. Does anyone have any idea relating from their own experiences?
