Hi guys,

I am after some info if possible, I am totally pissed off at a procedure at work due to the following,

Changing an incandescent lamp for an direct LED replacement (bayonet fitting) requires a 32 page method statement, this is not for aircraft btw I just wondered if there where similar retarded operating practices in place in other industries.

If there were any articles too it would help in my challenge to cut the bullst.

No.
The ones in aviation are far more retarded (and procedure-heavy)

Trying to follow industry maintainance procedures on developmental kit before its gets transposed into a military MP is quite amusing. You end up sifting through pages of small fonted text going yeah, yeah, yeah, don't need, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda.

Had to laugh when the customer decided that our [subcontracted firm] vans tyres needed changed the fitter [mobile QF] would have to produce risk assessments and work instructions prior to starting to change the tyres.

Solution, drive vehicles off site park up at side of A road and let him work there!

Making an aircraft safe for maintenance before you start any job normally requires at least a good 10 pages of 'stuff'.
