Fire Blade engine miss-fire
Discussion
Guys,
I have a Fire Blade engine in a Rage Buggy. The problem is that the engine is not responding as it did when I last drove the age in April (it usually get's left 10 weeks without being started due to work and have seen no problems in the last year). It splutters after about 5k, where it would normally race all around the clock!
The air filter is brand new direct replacement K&N and even without it, the engine does not respond correctly. It only revs low, and would not even climb a small incline.
I was going to look at the following:
Fuel -- clean the carbs as the fuel may have gone off?
Regulators -- I seem to remember the two black voltage regulators on fire blades to be a problem?
Any thoughts on what it could be?
Cheers

Seem to recall holding back at those sort of revs being a symptom of the jets being to small?! Although you say it was fine, so maybe dirty fuel in the carbs blocking up the jets slightly?? That's as far as I can guess I'm afraid.
If all else fails try ringing andy bates (ab performance) 01449 736633.
Hope you get it sorted

I ran a blade engine for over 10k in a Fury, it only ever went off song once. It would not rev cleanly , shot flames out and would not tick over. A new set of plugs sorted it out. Try that first, it's common.
But revving just to 5k is severe, the coil packs. They are what I think you mean.

also from memory a fouled plug will not sort itself out on a carb blade, no matter how much you run /rev it. Take them out and stick them under a blowlamp. I remember too recently delivering an ex RGB racecar home for its new owner via the M25. That started running like a B.O.S. after 20 miles as one of the plugs had worked loose, it showed the symptoms you have. Simple. but just check!
