Battery disconnect problems - urgent help required!

Having problems with the car! I was leaving my 2006 Vantage for a couple of weeks, so decided to push the battery disconnect switch. Now I'm back (change of plans so only away for a few days) I pressed the reset button behind the seat, but the display pod still comes up with 'check battery off switch'....which is still lit. The car starts if I press the start button at the same time as holding the reset switch, but the dash brings up every scary sounding error warning under the sun. HELP!

Ok, sounds like the battery may have gone flat anyhow - so get her fired up - drive for @ 30 miles and you'll have charge a-plenty. The scary warnings are just the car going nuts about no battery power.

Most will go as soon as you have charged the battery and restarted her.

Hi, thanks - but I don't think the battery is the problem. I only ended up leaving it for a few days and it fires up no problem. However, it doesn't run right and I can smell unburnt fuel. All was fine when I left it a few days ago!

The stereo, red start etc also only seem to come on for as long as I hold the reset button down....is this right? As soon as I let go the car shuts down again

The stereo etc will shut down if there isn't enough current, might be worth checking the battery is firmly connected and it isn't a dodgy earth. Besides that I am kind of out of ideas that don't involve a duff / expended battery.

Ok, cheers anyway. I measured the voltage across the battery terminals and it's 12.1 volts. I'm reluctant to take it out tonight in case it leaves me stranded, but tomorrow will take it to the dealers and hope they can have a quick look at it. Also noticed the powerfold mirrors arent folding now when the car is locked.

Feckin' electrics. Typical when I'm going on holiday tomorrow afternoon, and was meant to be taking the Aston...

Pretty sure your battery is ok - do your 2 windows rise up on closure ??

If not then your powerfold mirrors will not activate as they are linked.

Try opening and closing your doors again to check

Mine was displaying all these symptoms when I returned from holiday - powerfold mirrors, errors a-go-go, I hope it's something simple.

Ok ok, Kris you were right after all! Thanks! I didn't really want to drive the car, so left the battery on charge. Now all ok again, except that windows didn't drop/lift and mirrors don't fold. Did the window reset but are the mirrors a dealer reset issue?

Glad it worked - the mirrors will likely come back on their own after a few goes.

These flat battery issues are a bloody joke.... Why oh why should taking a battery off or disconnecting and re connecting cause so many problems??

As a comparison, in January I removed the battery from my Jeep for the best part of 3 months.... Came home, re fitted it and turned the key.... No errors, no warning lights, engine just started like it always does...

On an early car yes, not selectable through the menus.
Glad you got it sorted, if its an early car, replace the battery anyway for piece of mind.
