I am trying to get the original paint off a set of wheels but the Nitromoors I tried does not really do much.

Any recomendations for something which will do the job?

Thanks in advance

local shotblasters will dip them for you, for a small fee.

Sorry. I should have said something I can use with the tyres on.
I am not after a 100% professional finish, just doing the wheels on the cheap for the moment so they look better than the flaky stuff on there at the moment.

shot blasted and/or acid dipped would be best, if you want to do it yourself and youve tried the nitro route then just go down through the grades of paper till all is gone.
Not for the faint hearted though.

Not sure what you can use other than paper with the tyres still on. I have just refurbished two wheels but had the tyres taken off first. I tried doing the wheels at home with paint stripper, wire wool and sand paper but ended up having them blasted and powder coated as my efforts looked a bit rubbish. I have spare wheels though which enabled me to do this.

The wheels are likely powder coated, which means they're not 'painted', per se. Nitromors won't shift it and the only practical option would be to blast/dip as far as I'm aware.

Soda blast ? not used it personaly but thr classic vintage guys seem to like it ,there is a guy in Birm is suppsedly the best ,it will take paint off f/glass and not damage the gelcoat ,rubber seals or glass so it shouldnt bother tyres !!

Ozchem Morstrip will strip paint and powder. Just brush it on and place clingfilm over the top to keep it wet. Do not let it get on anything you don't want stripped as it will bubble paint the second it touches it.

The Guy in Birmingham is very good, just past The Belfry Golf Centre on the main Road. But for the sake of a fiver getting the tyres taken off is it worth the hassle of trying to do the job on the cheap. If it's worth doing - do it right.
