So this being PH and all the default answer is probably "every time", but how often do you actually floor the accelerator in day to day driving?

Do you mean through all gears or just getting up to speed?

Quite a lot in my Impreza. A naturally aspirated engine means that I use quite a lot of WOT in it, as ther eis no turbo to give things a shove in the midrange.

Wouldn't miss an opportunity for a nice third gear blast onto a carriageway or motorway biggrin

Almost never. Basically just hills and when I am in too high a gear.

Far more often then is necessary or prudent given it's a 6lt twin turbo thumbup

Especially when the engine is cold as it aids it to warm up a lot faster wink

Not usually advised on cold engines at low revs. High crankshaft torque loads and low oil flow makes for accelerated wear.

Whether that is true or not, I dunno, but it seems to be the received wisdom and sounds reasonable.

XC90 - all the time
Wife's Eos - quite a lot.

Once or more per journey as I believe that a car should be worked.

2 guys who drive for us, identical Jag's (R's) one that is used properly (warmed up, booted frequently etc.) actually is more reliable than the one that is driven like miss Daisy is in the boot.

90 percent of the time is WOT.

(That's not as impressive/licence risking as it first seems.)

There is just so much fun in getting the most out of yourself and the machine.

jeep - not much, it's got glacial acceleration and the last 25% of travel makes no discernible difference.

hire car [currently a fiesta] - all day every day.

clubbie - every straight part of the track.

Have a 1.6tdi blue motion (aka slow motion) passat as a company car - saves money apparently - foot to the floor just to make it go anywhere... 105bhp in a 1700 kg car....!

most acceleration is foot to the floor. In a 1.2 Clio, this is sort of necessary.
