Wheel Alignment

Just lately my V8V has that Bambi feeling in the bends. That feeling that tracking,camber etc usually sort out,but do I go for factory settings or fast road.Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike fronts getting low but rears like new.I am getting a little tramlining on the road and wear on the inside edge of the front tyres.Tyres pressures are spot on last time I checked.Maybe some new fronts before my French trip rather than after. john

geo setup is a personal thing, you can often try a few setups before settling on a particular one

but you wont know until you try it

TDI in Essex have a setup that some owners prefer

its not super expensive to try nor that time consuming to change .....

I`m going in an hour to ABP at Shavington who worked wonders on a 911 I had.Being a fairly steady driver I think I will go for a factory setup and see how that goes for a while,as you say it`s not expensive to change.

I used Wheels In Motion (or Blackboots) near Milton Keynes or Chesham.

Good service, reasonably cheap and great setup.

Done and it was pretty far off in some ways.The vagueness has gone,steering wheel straight and the vantage feels really planted.
Treated myself to two new front tyres as the old ones are six and a half years old,cracked and there`s a nail in one of them so might be a good idea.

I paid £100 Lewis.

If you saw how far they were out (see thread) and the time it took to fix, you would realise why

Tramlining is fronts, you will get some indside eadge wear.
If the tramlining is BAD get a bit more front caster added to standard geo to help it centre with less effort.
Buckley are competititve on tyres as well
If you've not had the geo done in a while I'd get it done and a couple of new front tyres for MAX enjoyment on your trip

Notice a difference? Mine were not too far out however I notice a big difference now on general road cruise.

The cost very much depends upon which car you have and how many and how big the under panels are. That's before they even start on the geometry

Yes, it is firmer and the steering more direct.

Unfortunately it has not made me a better driver

The VH cars can be done without removing panels
So long as the adjusters are not seized
