My wiper arms are rusty and the pass blade is broken due to bonnet catching it all the time so rather than try to repaint them thought I'd treat myself to new ones.

Anyone know what they are from? not on alternative parts list, presume mk3 ford something? know I'll need to drill a hole for washer jet mounts.

Thanks, Ian.

I wouldnt mess about. Just get the Leven arms and blades they look good and a lot tidier. Probably not much dearer either than original parts.

I just jumped on the forums with the same question...

I have an early 500, the arms don't actually match, but one broke. Arms are relatively common across makes, so it shouldn't be hard to match them up. (Leven isn't as easy for me as I am in Canada, so would need to wait for shipping and who knows when the rain will catch me out!).

Anyone know the correct arm length? I would guess center of shaft to end of arm is the way it's measured.

Anyone know the correct blade length?

Anyone know the angle that they bend near the end (one of mine is a larger angle than the other, have not measured them but I would say approx 2 degrees versus 6 degrees).

My arms are 14.25 inches and 14.4 inches. The blades in the same order are 15.5 inches and 16 inches. The first numbers are for the LHD driver's side.

So, specs are the best to know, but even a specific car or two that used the same arms would be nice to know.

Thanks all.

Well, looked around local, waited for a couple of places to call back that never bothered.... gave up.

Called Leven, ordered theirs, and they have already arrived. Nice!!!

Kind of gave up, though a local spares place will probabily get me some if I take mine off.

Let me know how you get on with Levens at motorway speed?

The Leven ones work well, follow the windsscreen line and provide a much better spray arrangement so a no brainer really.

The standard arms have the n/s one cranked up which means that to prevent the blade running over the seal all the time you have to have the arm set a bit higher. If you have someone a little short in height in the passenger seat they then get a lovely view of the arm and blade rather than where you are going which for some may be disconcerting. The solution to this may be to get a straight arm for the n/s and set it a little lower so it parks better (looks better too?) but I suspect that the blade would then sit not on the screen at the side when parked because of the curve in the screen - so does the Leven set up sort this or is there another solution? (shorter n/s blade etc, etc ...)

I don't normally sit in the passenger seat either Paul but I was in Scotland a couple of weeks ago with a friend for a few days (while the wives had some shopping time- yes I know dangerous stuff!!) and when he was driving I could see over the parked wiper but he is a little shorter than me (maybe 5ft 9 or so?) and when I asked if the blade got in his view through the screen he said it did a bit but not too bad. No big issue but if it parked a little lower it would also look better so any ideas as to what works best or is it just live with it?

Jim,
Mine sit a few mm above the base of the screen from inside the car so can hardly see them. You need to play around with the location of the arms on the splines so they sit low down. Also if the last wipe has been on a dry screen they will sit higher.

They sit perfectly - each has a slightly different angle bend and therefore nest together very near the base of the screen, and aren't very visible from the cockpit. When static the end of one blade sits slightly off the window (this was true of the old ones as well), but they apply decent pressure to keep contact with the glass as they sweep. They don't *look* like they will lift at speed, but I have not tried yet as the car is on my hoist getting other things attended to.

Overall I must say they are decent looking, and the service from Leven was excellent, they shipped fast.
