So it turns out I'm leaving the sunny climate of Aberdeen and will be based in Leatherhead for the next 9 months or so, and being a natural PH the car will be coming with me. Is there any benefit to telling my insurance company? the parking facilities at my new accommodation are much more secure than my current home address (underground, gated and secure building opposed to on-street) and I suspect its a better rated area for security - has anyone done similar? Or will my insurers just take the opportunity to apply some admin fee and bump up the charge?

What would happen if something happened, and you hadn't told them?

They'll take the opertunity to not pay out if it's nicked as it won't, technically, be insured against theft overnight

9 months is a good chunk of time - I'd be telling them.

That was my thinking as well TBH; I read my policy document and it doesn't say anything RE temporary changes of address, but I'll give them a call and find out what they say.

9 months out of a 12 month policy wouldn't be temporary in the eyes of an insurer.
