Decided to face head on and strip...

Filthy with crap dirt and whatever else. I don't honestly know what every part is but have got a haynes manual for strip and rebuild pdf from the internet.

My first question is... Can i throw it in a bucket of hot water and bleach or something? Do i need to take anymore out? I've have most little "air valves" or fuel valves it and are clear (blow thru) also the rubber seals on the accelerator pump and other side look fine. The float and that valve are clean too.

Once all jets etc are removed and it is fully stripped..find someone that does ultrasonic immersion cleaning and take it there..Shouldn't be too much to get it properly cleaned..

OR... see linky below.. Looking at your car I think that if you spent a couple of days with a soldering iron tidying up the wiring, earths etc and fitting some proper connectors to the principle bits in the engine bay..Then fitted Lumention or a simple electronic ignition system and then purchase below..It would completely transform your enjoyment of the car you have...

You may spend a lot of time re-building that carb but if all the spindles etc are worn then the carb will still not be very good.

Treat yourself.

The above 'barn-find' does need a lot of attention, as in cleaning, new gaskets , diaphrahms, valves, and jets/emulsion tubes (all at burtons) and then, when properly set your taimar will all of of sudden behave like a proper sports car !

Let us know when done, please
