Our dog has had diarrhoea since Tuesday morning.

We've not been too concerned as she is a massive scavenger and will eat absolutely anything; cat, dog, fox, horse poo through to scraps of food found in foods and anythingelse she finds that she even thinks might be edible.

It's not uncommon for her to have short bouts odmdiarrhoea and we we usually just cut her back to boiled rice only for a few days and it clears up.

This time it's showing no signs of abatement.

Stop reading now if you're easily offended, but to give some more insight to those that might be able to help;
- Frequency - completely usual
- form - some form but very very soft
- quantity - what i would expect
- smell - jeeze does it reek
- colour - more yellow than normal
- mucus - no
- blood - no
- nose temperature - cold
- temperment - still as stupid as ever possibly slightly less energetic
- liquid intake - usual
- vomiting - none

I'm wondering wheather to cut all food for a period (24hours) or not.

Or is there something else i should do?

We've had very similar with our GSD recently, who is also a terrible scavenger! Initial diagnosis was colitis, but when that didn't clear up bloods were taken and showed an intestinal infection. Long-ish term treatment with Metranizadole (sp!) and it seems to be clearing up now. She's had the antibiotics for just over two weeks now and the stools are returning to normal, but the vet has said to give her a lower dose of tabs for another couple of weeks then repeat the blood tests.

I'm not a vet btw, just a dog owner, but the symptoms you describe are VERY similar to ours.

I'd say get the dog to the vet, in all honesty. Collect a sample if you can and take it with you.

Is she off her food? colitis is a good shout but there tends to be mucous or blood in the stool in these cases.

She has been as much into her food as ever, i didn't feed her last night and she wanted/needed to go out twice during the night, so I won't give her breakfast either and will get to the vets today.

No blood or mucus suggests not colitis, if dog is not unwell, starve of all food for 24 hrs, if vomitting as well, water only to be given in tiny bits. If doesn't stop with the 24h break, then off to vets. Main guideline for immediate vet visit, is how well/unwell is the dog, assuming vaccinated and not a pup or geriatric.
