First to see will buy...
Discussion
I read this frequently but as it happened the first person to view my car bought it. However, it took about eight weeks to find a viewer which surprised me. The market for interesting cars in Ireland really is fooked. Almost €1,700 to tax a 964 for one year is crazy though and takes dedication to motoring.

Anyway, I just agreed the sale of my car to a very nice Austrian chap and subject to funds clearing my account, I will be handing the car over on Tuesday evening. He just sold his 996 and was looking for a REAL 911.
We spent two hours together on Monday evening going through the folder and over every inch of the car; spare wheel out - the lot. We then went for a decent drive and as you would expect, he was hooked.
Although I'm sure that some people thought I was asking for too much, I got a price that I am happy with. I don't mind saying that my sales price is significantly more than I paid for the car and the buyer knows this. I guess I got lucky buying mine when recession panic brought many good cars to the market at deflated prices. I also think the eye-watering invoices that the previous owner experienced put him off Porsches for life and had him wanting to get rid of it quickly just in case another invoice came. Seeing as I put c.€7,000 into the car myself, I didn't quite break even but as an ownership experience, it has been cheap overall.
It is without a doubt the best car I have owned and the most fun to drive. With double the budget I can't think of a car I would prefer so my next one is going to be completely different; maybe a big estate or a small hot hatch. I expect I will be back in a Porsche someday and thankfully the buyer of my car has agreed to give me first option on a buy-back so I hope that 964 bubble bursts soon
. Also, since he will be using the same specialist as me I'll be able to keep tabs on it.
Tuesday is going to be a sad day but hopefully we will have good weather this weekend and I will get out for a nice farewell drive and some photos.
I just want to thank the independent specialists/dealers on here who offered sound advice, in particular Marcus (thegoose). I really appreciate it.

I sold it for various reasons. Mainly, because I was saving for a house when the recession kicked in and since I had some cash spare and always wanted an aircooled 911, I thought a 964 would be a good place for my money to ride out the recession.
I had D90s and only sold them recently as I was never mad about them and one of the lads in the Porsche Club needed a set. The wheels on it are OEM Porsche (by BBS) from a 996. Personally, I think they look great and as they are 17" with the correct width and offset, don't compromise the ride or handling..

16" Design 90s are 8.5kg and 10.0kg (7"/9")
16" Design 90s are 7.7kg and 9.9kg (6"/8")
17" 996 10-Spoke are 8.2kg and 9.5kg (7"/9")
Not much of a difference.

Looks very nice but would look SO much better with Design 90 wheels.....IMO.
I prefer it on those 996 wheels. Car looks really nice, but interior leather could do with a refurb. Those light coloured interiors tend to look worse than they actually are with age. The leather should come up a treat with a bit of TLC.
Love PH. man comes on to say car sold & thank you. 20% of posters offer their opinion on the wheels and interior
Why is that necessary? If the thread had been titled "does the interior need a refurb" or "what do you think to these wheels" then I can understand it. But the guy has just sold his car. Clearly neither issue was a problem for the buyer so why ruin what was otherwise a good thread

This is a Posrche forum FFS for discussion and opinions of all things Porsche.....and if one can't have an opinion and state that opinion what's the f
king point of the forum.
As you said the guy has sold the car and I am sure the buyer is more than happy with his purcahse.....but even had he not sold the car I would still have made my comment about the wheels. It was not a nasty comment I was just staing my opinion and btw it seems not to have upset the OP so I don't see why it should rattle your cage.....SFJC.

And then you turn up as the OP's unwanted fairy Godmother and troll the thread. Priceless PH I'd say.Why is that necessary? Why is that necessary?
End of class bell rings. Why is that necessary?
Teacher " Ok everyone, you can go, make sure your homework is done for our next class. Wetwipe, where do you think you're going ?"
Wetwipe "On my break sir"
Teacher " Come here Wetwipe"
Wetwipe "Sir ?"
Teacher "How dare you disrupt my class by behaving in the manner you've just done"
Wetwipe "I'm not sure I understand sir . . . "
Teacher "Get back to your desk, get your writing pad and pen out and write ten thousand times "I must NOT behave as the OP's unwanted fairy Godmother and troll the threads on PH. My comments are unnecessary and only serve to ruin the threads on there"

PM to be sent after I've recovered from laughing so much

The vehicle description is amazingly well detailed, leaving little to the imagination. Well done!Almost €1,700 to tax a 964 for one year is crazy though and takes dedication to motoring.
.
€1700 ! ? That is very expensive. Is road tax generally high in Ireland? What factor pushes a 20 year 3.6 liter sportscar up that high? I thought German road tax was high, but is nowhere near that level.
