I've been toying with the idea of buying a rough defender, and keeping it to fix up for the rest of the year, however My budget is £4000 and 110 landy's only seem to drop below that at 15 or more years old, however the Santanas share many parts as they were originally built on license from LR. It seems that I can get an 06, or 07 model for £4000, would it be worth looking at one, or should i stick to the original 'buy a defender and fix it up plan'?

Also i can 'spanner' pretty good smile

Defender, only on S3 cart springs, with an old Mercedes engine, built by Spaniards. What could possibly go wrong? smile

Umm isn't it a 109 using parabolic leaf springs with an Iveco engine in that easily out performs a Tdi, Td5 or even a 2.4 Puma?

I realise the need to check underneath for rust, and have thought about taking a welding course at some point, however if I find one with little rust, would it be possible to keep it going with a good coat of underseal?
