Unfortunately another What Car thread!

I have been on the look out for a car now for about 6 weeks and nothing has came up. I had a deposit down on an Ibiza Tdi Hybrid but it fell through and nothing else I fancy has came up.
the main factor for me is Insurance as I am only 19 and have a DR10, Stupid I know and I didn't come here to get slated for it.
Luckily I live in a decent area so on a mk4 golf gt tdi with few mods its about £1800-£2k.
This is what im looking for:

Ideally under £2k but I have a little more to spend
Something relatively fast, No 1.2 Fiesta's or similar as its just not enough power for everyday driving.
Good-ish on fuel, Would prefer a diesel but not essential

Heres a few cars i have considered:

Ibiza tdi, remapped. Sorted, Insurance apprx £2k

MK4 Golf, Same as above, Insurance £1800

Discovery off road ready, pick one up for about £1k and although its not exactly what i wanted it would be a laugh to have so I don't mind. Insurance £2200. probably cheapest option.

Mk2 Golf GTI, Cheap to buy and £2k to insure.

320D, Little expensive to buy and about £2200 insurance.

Anyone got any suggestions? Insurance i can probably get little cheaper as that was a single car quote and we have a multi-car one with 4 cars already on, Maybe knock couple of hundred of each car.
I have been using my mams 56 reg civic 2.2cdti for the past few weeks and it is ideal.
