Changing Speedo Head / Clocks in a Mk1 Focus?
Discussion
A friend of mine has a 2000 Focus and the clocks are playing up - intermittently working speedo / fuel gauge etc.
Hes checked the connections and is opting to replace the complete unit.
Hes getting conflicting information in that some breakers he has spoken to says they need 'programmed in' to the ECU, other say its just a plug and play unit.
Can anyone answer definitively?

If the speedo is playing up that could be the vehicle speed sensor on the gearbox (VSS), a fairly common fault. I'm sure you can swap dials no problem but the mileage will be that of the new dials and not the dials being taken off.
Hope that helps or someone with more knowledge answers.
If you need any more information just ask, I've got a focus myself.
Cheers
