We all like to say it but I was wondering who has or is actually doing it ?

I reckon around 7 or 8 years is decent enough proof, so who has a pork that theyve had for 7,8 years or more and expect to keep until dead/infirm/alzheimers/blind etc...

Yeah i've said it a few occasions as you'll know.
My problem is bloody boredom, i kept my SC the longest at 2.5 yrs.

My issue is i like to try different variants i've even considered a 968 Club sport recently as a Yellow one caught my eye at a show, absolutely loved it to be honest

It'll be good practice for them as most Graduates end up flipping burgers now anyway - oops sorry, thought I was reading the DM online!

Had my 993 for 8 years now. Can't see myself selling it any time soon for no other reason than anything newer/faster is even more likely to lose me my license/kill me/kill someone else than the current garage resident.

I have had my 3.2 Supersport for just coming up to 20 years (it is standard, apart from a Hayward & Scott exhaust they crafted for me soon after I acquired the car).

I have been thinking recently that I should maybe get a newer one to go alongside it, but I cannot imagine myself parting with my first Porsche.

I've a 1972 2.4S since 2000 which I just sold today, to fund the restoration of my other 1972 2.4S which I have since 1988.

9934S - 8 years this year. True keeper for me - no (serious) interest in anything else. My love of the car has transferred to my petrolhead son - when discussing the potential for it ever changing hands (in my Will), he says "it's OK Dad, I'll have the car, Hayley (daughter) can have the house". Petrol fumes or what?

Its a good question.

I've had my 993 for 5.5 years and I still love it. But, honestly, if I had the means I would have moved on to a GT3 (Nearly did last year).

But deep down I know that my 993 is a great 911 and it still makes me smile and if I had to keep it forever, I would be just fine with that.

Oh, and Nurburgring1, dont even think about selling that lovely 3.2 of yours, you would regret it.

What about you Jackal, surely that SY 993 'RS' of yours is too precious?

Yes i intend to keep it Molly. For me it's still one of my all time fave cars to look at and drive. I've had it over 3 yrs now which isn't that long but the longest ever for me and its taken me that long to get it to where it is now in terms of handling and ride. Just had a 2000 mile Alpine trip in it and enjoyed it arguably more than ever before. The F fund is brewing nicely so financially I don't and wont ever need to sell it. I guess thats the key thing as there are many other motoring eperiences I intend to indulge myself in before I leave this giant tennis ball. Many of us sell cars to move onto pastures new but in an deal world there are many that we would hold onto. Ironically, perhaps it's only by owning and enjoying others on a regular basis that you can stop yourself from becoming bored with any one steed.

I think that the trick in life is seperating price from value.

Its not easy with the constant onslaught of clever marketeers, we are all suckered by their well planned teases.

I am moving at the moment and the market vs value argument has been a strain on me.

Got mine in 07 somehow I manage to keep hold of it each year? I only use it in the summmer LeMans and car shows and trips out. The plan is to pass it onto my son car mad aged ten now.
Its the only 911 I wanted?
Its a lot of money, to have sitting around in a garage half of the year.

Plus as I always say 'EVERY MILE IS A SMILE'

5 years on a 993 RS is a record for me. Plenty have come and gone in between.

I normally keep my cars for 4 year'ish. Had the C2 four and half and still loved driving it, wasn't bored with it when I changed, but it's still in the family!
Perhaps I'll keep the turbo longer, as it's such a great allrounder. Only thing that might persuade me to swap would be a GT3 but I just don't see that happening.
Anyway, her indoors says that next time I change I'll be too old to be seen driving Porsche smile
