Afternoon all,
I'm currently driving a 52 reg mk4 golf 150 tdi. It's got 90k on it and I have owned it for around 2 years. It's starting to show its age a little bit and I'm wondering if I should chop it in or not.
Pro points, its running ok, no smoke and has good bodywork save for a fingerprint sized piece of paint missing on top the arch and small scuff on the front bumper
Bad bits, intercooler hose connection is hissing and could do with 2 pipes replacing which are £££. It's got early signs of the flywheel starting to vibrate and It's starting to crunch into 3rd.
I work in the motor trade and my work have had a mint condition 07 30k swift sport come in, which is available to me for £4000. Always liked the look and heard good things from those who have one.
I took it out for a few hours today and while I did enjoy its handling and eagerness and can see why its got good reviews and praise, I just haven't got the I 'want' it feeling.
Also couldn't help but compare it to my golf regarding build quality.
Important factors, swift is 200 a year cheaper to insure, golf has cheaper tax, both will get similar mpg in daily use, obviously swift loses out on longer journeys.
So I'm a bit stuck as to what to do, so I turn for a guiding kick up the arse from ph.
Summary: keep 90k 2002 golf with early signs of doom or change for 30k 2007 swift sport.
