Insurance - recommended companies?
Discussion
Mannings have been the best for me the past few years, and just renewed with them last week
I called all the insurance companies in Sprint and Mannings were by far the cheapest, and then I called a few of the mainstream companies and that was a complete waste of time, I'd be curious to phone Privledge though as there current advert states they will beat anyone
(but I'm sure they will have a very get out clauses in there somewhere)

Edit: ClassicLine said they would love to quote, but the fact that I need Class 1 Business Use meant they'd have to refer it and phone me back, which they never did.

Thanks for those quick suggestions.
I must admit I was a bit shocked by Mannings quote but then it does cover TVRCC track days....
I had the Westy covered with HHH, now NU direct. Have just spoken with them and they have made me happy again......half the figure Mannings quoted !!!
Thanks again.

For reference, my 1997 Chimaera 500 insured for 7k miles pa, Business Class 1 use, husband & wife both in their mid-30's to drive, both with SP30's (3 points each), full NCB for 1st driver + IAM & RideDrive, member of TVRCC, kept on an off-road gated driveway at night, in Hamphire, fully comp + protected NCB, £550 excess, was £718.
Mannings seem to have a slightly odd pricing policy. When I moved from my S to the Chimaera there was hardly any change in premium, when I asked how much a 5 litre would be they said the exactly the same price. I was told they go on the age of the car only (with all cars being group 20+) so a Cerbera would be the same as a 4 litre Chimaera of the same age! It must make sense to someone somewhere....
This may be complete bollards of course

Any suggestions as to the best companies to try?
Just got a quote from Mannings.........and if thats the going rate then I won't be buying a Chim after all.....:-(
I know that there are companies that specialise in Westy's, are there similar for Tiv's??
TIA
Pearts.
£380 p/a f/comp!
I think this goes to show that it's best to do plenty of phoneing around every year, and what is best for one person could well be pants for the next, each company seems to pick from it's own list of 'must haves' some want trackers, some want 10 years experiance driving RWD cars, some want a garage, some don't care

after you have done the normal quotations from above try www.confused.com it does a mutliple search and comes back with the best quote, usually from Admiral or Elephant but it might come up with something different.
Sunninghill
can't fault them best quote by far, phoned them upto day to charge my numberplate over, got straight through. got a reply of no problem, i'll send your new covernote out tomorrow, no charges.
i also queried a "sports" exhaust and its a 5% loading apparently... which unfortunately for me is £55!!!!

If you are OK with restricted milage then the usual suspects, Mannings, Classic line etc all seem quite cometitive. However if you are under 30 and want to lift the milage limit (no point having the car and getting to the end of the summer and running out of miles!) then they don't want to know. Consequently I found that Direct line gave the best quote.
