Some time ago, both myself and Mrs Millsee’s were stopped by plod for speeding. This happened within a week of each other on the same bit of road (I know, I know….)

There have been some developments.

Mrs Millsee phoned the credit card line (go figure!!) to pay the two fines. A couple of days later, I got a receipt and my driving licence back with the 3 points on. Done deal. No sweat.

However, a few days later I noticed that only one payment had been taken from the credit card. Mrs Millsee queried this with the speeding ticket office, and they said that she was one day over the 28 day deadline to accept the FPN and they had passed this matter to the court to sort out. They advised her to wait to receive the court summons, which would now be for a fine of £90.

Mrs Millsee wrote to the ticket office confirming the conversation, which was about 3 weeks ago.

Nothing has happened until this morning when she received her licence back through the post with the 3 point endorsement. The payment still hasn’t been taken.

Now, as far as the police are concerned, she could have rejected the FPN and be contesting the thing in court. Who are they to endorse her licence without due process?

On the other hand, they’ve cocked up and pointed her, but not taken the fine payment.

What d’ya reckon?

...... and keep a record of everything that has gone on so in the event of a summons being issued you can go to Court and lambast the procedure and maybe at the same time claim some costs?
