Sorry but a what car
Discussion
I know I run the risk of getting abuse from the usual idiots, but my wife is getting a motability car.
It needs to carry my wife and I, plus 2 kids in car seats, and one teenager, it also needs room for a mobility scooter.
I will be the one driving it.
We have narrowed it down to the options
Vauxhall Astra 2.0CDTi 165 SRi ST SS MP Park
Peugeot 308 SW 1.6HDi 92 Access 5d MP
Ford Focus 1.0 100 EcoBoost Zetec Est MP Park
Vauxhall Insignia 2.0CDTi 160 SRi ST MP Park
On looks, the Focus would win, but I'm worried it would be under powered.

I used to get a Insignia for work if doing long commutes. Comfy place to be and soaks up the motorway like you wouldn't believe. Nice 6 speed gearbox and a competent overtaker in 2.0 diesel form. You should be okay though. However the 1.8 petrol is horrid. Rear visibility is not great. Only thing I ever disliked about them.
Not driven an auto so can't comment on them.
Astra is nice too and has a similar look inside. Might as well get the bigger car though. Although if memory serves me the hatchback Astra will have a larger opening than the Insignia . Does the scooter fold?

If you've got to fit 2 car seats and a teenager in the back I think I'd be looking at something bigger. Something like a C-Max or maybe something S-Max, Grand Picasso size. You've also got the added benfit that if the teenager wants his own space he can sit in one of the extra seats in the boot.

As its two children in the back I would say the insignia. If you had said adults or tall children I would have said the astra. The roof is VERY low in the back of an insignia. Probably two or three inches lower than the vectra. It needs to carry my wife and I, plus 2 kids in car seats, and one teenager, it also needs room for a mobility scooter.

We have just signed up for the Insignia.
Just seen this thread. I would have picked the Insignia aswell, we had one as a loan car a while back. It was a 2.0CDTI SRi Nav and it was a great car. I am pleased all the posters have given you proper advice aswell instead of bieng stupid and questioning you.
Enjoy!
I will keep an eye out for a fully laden Insignia now.
