hi guys,

i'm looking for a new wheel for my track car and hoped this section would be best to ask for recommendations. i need one around 300mm diameter, thought can be +/- 30mm without making any great difference. it must either be flat or shallow dish, budget around £150

reason i'm asking for recommendations is that i am inexperienced on track and i'm limited to buying mail order only so a consensus on comfort would be nice. do you prefer a round or elliptical rim and what about spoke position and anatomical grips?

current wheel appears to be from a kart and it is a pile of crap. one's i'm interested sizewise are:

sparco - 300, 323
omp - super turismo, trecento, superquadro

also are there any cheaper alternatives to paying out £150ish for a quick release boss?

cheers for reading.

My personal preference is for thin, oval grips without too much sculpting, like the Momo 78 or Sparco 333. I'd only get one with a squared off bottom like the Superquadro if you really need the extra space for your knees.

I bought a Sabelt 330mm Wheel for £140 from www.moderacewear.com at Silverstone for my Alfa 33. Probably should have got a 350mm though as its still a bit hard to turn at slow speeds. Excellent quality wheel though in suede and much better than the original Alfa wheel.

I like the Momo 88's a lot;

I have one on both my TVR and Westfield.

i presume you mean corsica, which is too big and too deeply dished, which means you didn't read the thread in the first place

£30! wish i'd seen these earlier! went for a race tech one for £80 iirc, although i did get the one with the 1" did, 2" long slug so i can get it turned to suit

of course i had to buy gloves as well to stop me ruining the wheel, quite an expensive afternoon it turned out to be!

i bought one of those last year..........you get what you pay for, had to replace it with a better quality one as the side to side play was too much felt like the wheel was coming off.

Either a Moto Lita leather-rimmed wheel, or my all-time favourite, a Momo Prototipo. Gorgeous wheel with the anodised black centre, nice rim thickness too.
