Hey guys.
For those of you who want a quick alternative to putting the proper Spyder roof on for a ten minute stop , I bought one of these.

http://www.classicadditions.com/waterproof-half.ht...

Not pretty , but it fits (it is the small) looping the smaller triangle elastic loops at the rear over the bodywork behind the wheels rather than using the large loop tightens it nicely.

I`ll post pics if anyone`s interested (although it`ll be a couple of weeks before I get around to it probably).

BTW. I am not affiliated in any way with the company.

Oh , and for those that say why bother , just put the normal one up , I don`t care how fast you can do it , I can do it faster with this , and laziness is where it`s at. wink

But surely when you've stopped you may as well put the proper roof on?

I can do it in less than 60 seconds.... smile

And another thing - think of the extra weight you have to carry around with this in the boot.

With all due respect ...... Cobblers. tongue out

There's no way you can single handedly put the roof up (including the rear screen so full coverage per the rain cap) in less than 60 seconds.

I demand non-speeded up video evidence........

biggrin

To be fair, perhaps I can't.

But I'd rather get mildly damp putting the proper roof on, than see my car wearing Hilda Ogdens shower hat.

You definately can put a spyder roof on with rear screen in 1 minute single handed. (from exiting drivers seat to all doors closed again).

It is rushed affair doing it this quickly, but get everything in the right order and it is no problem.

Likewise, taking the roof off.

If i muster up the effort and know-how to post on you tube, I will ! Can you film on iphone and upload straight off the phone?

As for the rain cap, that does look like a messy affair.

Was going to approach a company to make a cost effective, custom designed cap for the spyder, with minimal attachments just using the cars features (simple loops around mirrors and then attachments on the standard hook and red handle).

Concept would keep worst off and be very quick and simple to apply.

Idea being to then produce to order for spyder owners. Maybe see a small return, but I don't know how much take up there would be when the roof itself isn't hard to put on.

I too looked into this. Sadly I ran out of time and needed a solution for an upcoming trip.
The same company as sells the one I linked put forward the option of a bespoke one but needed a car to create a template and I wasn't in the Spyder.

If you do persue this I would most definitely be interested , as I'm fully aware that what I'm using isn't ideal......

It actually seems quite easy, having just checked, so may do a vid soon. Break this stigma of the roof being difficult!

60 seconds? Piece of piss.

Especially when you are getting wet.
