So far had 2 checks for my 350 totalling nearly £24k !!!

One was easy to ring up the issuing bank who confirmed what we all knew - that is was a dud, so passed onto them all the info to help with there enquiries.

However the other bank will not let me know and suggested I put it into my account !!

They will probably charge me for returning it unpaid then !

Had a third person email me so I asked them for the cheque number and issuing bank so that I could confirm the payment, strangly enough they have not yet responded to me. I wonder why ?

Be nice to have a genuine buyer for a change, gonna put mine on EBAY and take another gamble

Please could you forward the responses to info@pistonheads.com ?

I need to know which ones get through the filters.

Mine are coming from the ad placed on the TVRCC site as work email on that one, with different email on Pistonheads.
So your filters worked on mine !

Jamie,

Do you mean the Golf? You've not had any mails about the BMW from what I can make of the log files.

Ok, I've worked it out. The scammers emails were getting binned by the system and I was alerted to him.

However on your BMW advert you've got your email address visible in the website field allowing him to email you directly rather than using PistonHeads.

I'll hide your email address for you.

I guess it's easy to spot the frauds but bear in mind there may be a gebuine buyer who has to do things that way.

The description of email from a PH ad with funds transferred to a bank account and a shipping company waiting was exactly how I recently brought my wedge !

Mine are not coming from the PH advert either, just from the TVRCC site.

Going to try Ebay shortly - that will be a laugh

Lets put up a ficticious car for sale, say a SEAC for £7k and let the fraudsters come pick up the car then we all jump out and beat the holy crap out of 'em for a laugh!.

Certainly make me feel better ;-)

I've had 3 scam offers for my 350i from Wedge Pages, so it's not only PH that is attracting them.

I was speaking to someone about this yesterday.

Apparently the fraud squad sometimes take a greater interest than you might expect in these things. Many of them aren't just numpties trying to make a few quid, but are part of terrorist organisations trying to raise funds
