only 5 (?) rubystone rhd and 3 of them for sale at the same time! perhaps cerise is out this year!
Lovely looking cars! I'd definitely be in for one if I won the lotto

They look like all 964's albeit a bit lower and nice and shiny.
Yeah 964RS £22k not that long ago...........hindsight and all that.
That said probably the most over priced piece of pork available IMO of cause.
Sooner have GT3RS and with the rest of the money buy a 964 C2 cheap and create something that will run rings around the RS variant with ease.

I think there's actually another Rubystone 964 RS for sale in the HWM ad' on the site - it's been "wrapped" in white with the Rubystone bumpers exposed and is mentioned in another thread on here somewhere - so that's 4 out of 5 for sale at the moment !
Fuk, will soon be all 5. The games up!!!!Crimp a Length! said:

Nobody wanted them in the late 90s and you could buy a low mileage 5 year old minter for mid-high 20s (LHD that is). RHD ones were more like £40k back then. So you can imagine there were a lot of imported LHD RSs. They look like all 964's albeit a bit lower and nice and shiny.

I picked up a nice LHD blue RS for £26k in 1998 from the motherland, but it wasn't a keeper for me. Too harsh for the road, no aircon etc.
If I bought another 964 today, I would start with a nice standard C2 and just lower it slightly (but not the full 40 mm of the RS, probably 20 mm).
As a footnote the 964 RS Touring variant (rare as rocking horse poo) was probably a great road car, but you never hear much about it. I had a brief drive in a Silver one back in the day and thought it was great, but I'd literally just bought a lightweight at the time.
Anyway, the 964RS is now a "serious" collectors piece and fashionably expensive. But still the same metal as I remember. I wish these collectors would p
s off back to wherever they came from to be honest as they have inflated prices of all sorts of classic pork in recent years. Crimp a Length! said:

To be fair, Porsche did make a bit of an effort with the 964RS, going into a lot of detail like lightweight uprights and seam welding. It was a pukka homologation car, unlike the earlier 3.2 CS which was much more of a token gesture (but a nicer car for the road). But the extra 10hp was a bit pathetic at the time! They look like all 964's albeit a bit lower and nice and shiny.

Maybe there is alot of sense in that comment .
Absolutely. It's not rocket science to build a faster/better 964 on a fraction of an RS budget. Leave the real deal for the "collectors" to wMaybe there is alot of sense in that comment .
k over. The 64RS has been very much in fashion these last few years but I dont consider "collectable" to be anything other than mint with very low mileage / owners. Certainly a 60k mile car would not qualify. Given that the 996RS was built in far fewer numbers and is cheaper then the rarity argument does not stack up either. I dont think this finger in the wind price approach will not be sustained too much longer tbh.

Some cars were built from non- seam welded shells. I can't see the point of the Touring either. I also think that prices are mad!
At least one of those rhd rubystone cars will be the ex press car...from memory J99 SMO was the original plate when i drove it.
Always amuses me to read contemporary reports on the harshness of the ride...first time i stepped into a Impreza I wondered what the fuss was!

I imagine the same thing was said about the 2.7RS many years ago . . . . . . .rubystone said:

Just because certain contemporary cars have the ride quality of a kart doesn't make it any better for me. It's harsh ride was the main reason it wasn't a keeper for me. It was atrocious on the many bumpy and increasingly potholed Northants roads I drive on. It could be great too on certain roads, but too compromised for me. I bet they ride better today on shagged dampers to be honest :J Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
