Ford Sportka - Overheating

Dear all

A friends Sportka has just overheated, I haven't seen the car yet but does anyone know if this is common on these vehicles and if so, what causes it?

I would guese at the heater control valve at the back of the engine very common for leaking infact ive change 3 last week.

But could be anything from thermostate, water pump, rad pipes and so on.

I replaced the thermostat on my girlfriend's 1.3 Ka last week. Was knackered. The housing was shagged too.

I've seen the expansion tank bottle crack on these. Probably not the most common cause but it's worth checking. Doesn't leak water only steam once it gets up to temp and forces the crack open.

if its a n.ireland car reg number okz 3321 then its my old one and it leaks water all the time, I went through 4 water pumps in 3 years in that car.
