A quick question. What do people think about this colour on a 993 Turbo?

It will affect resale quite badly.

Maritime Blue suits RSs, but Riviera is just a bit too camp for my liking!

However, it should mean you'll get the 993TT cheaper because of it.

PS Did you email Greg about his speed yellow 3.6? The T2 looks good in that colour, narrow body ones don't.

Wouldn't be my choice, but everybody to ther own.If you like it, go for it,although I think that the residules would be badly hit,as Domster says. You just have to get it for a good price.

Riviera looks spot on for 993 RS's. I saw an RSR / RS CS at Donington once in this colour and it looked fab. It would look good on a turbo 993 as well. However, it would be brave from a resale point of view to get it on a "standard" 993. It would be individual, though. You see far too many silver ones. I like those wheels mind you. They look a bit like BBS Le Mans.

I don't think the riviera blue car is the one in question, it's a standard 993 Carrera that I believe Camtune have had on their books for a while.

The wheels look pretty good, the Turbo would probably come with directional hollow spoke Turbo 18s.

The lairier colours really suit the RSs, I think the Turbos look a bit too sophisticated for the primary colours. Polar silver is a bit boring - how about amazon green?

The car in question is a 993 Turbo and the interior is full leather in dark blue. The interior looks good and the car is certainly different. Comment?

Depends on price and if you want to keep it for ages.

If it's cheap and resale won't bother you for a while, I'd be tempted.

If you chop your cars in every 3 months ;-) then you could be stuck with it or take a hit. Also, the colour scheme means it's worth a good few grand less than an equivalent (but boring) polar silver one. I kid you not. A 993RS would be great in Riviera, but Turbo 4s... good colour for a Pistonhead, not so good for the doctor/banker/accountant who'll buy it off you.

Doctors/bankers/accountants tend to steer clear of the RSs, hence Pistonhead colours like speed yellow and riviera blue appealing. Interestingly, lairy colours on RSs are sort of demanded... a polar silver 964RS is worth less than a maritime one. I've been told that maritime blue adds 4k to the resale of a 964RS...

I'm a doctor, and I would torture my grandmother before selling her in order to get an RS....993 preferably. In Riviera.

Domster, Haven't mailed Greg yet but I will although I am really not sure about yellow.

How much is a 96 993 Turbo in Riviera Blue with 36,000 miles, full OPC history worth with the 12 month warranty, etc? Any ideas?

It may still be worth seeing the Turbo 2 3.6 in yellow. Speed yellow is a lovely colour, looks crap on a narrow body 993, but fantastic on the Turbo 3.6 widebody, 964 shape. Well worth viewing in the flesh. I was drooling!

Re the Turbo 4, well the low miles and OPC history count for it. The colour counts against it. At a guess, assuming it is RHD, I'd say it would be worth mid fifties in polar silver. In Riviera an independent dealer would probably have it in the high forties to sell it.

I agree with Dom Greggs 3.6 looks fantastic, however be aware he is selling it because of handling issues. I think at the moment he is trying to get them sorted. I suspect if he does he will keep the car.

Thanks guys, the price if the car is £49,995 and looking about it seems not a bad price cosidering the colour. UV, what do you think of the colour?

Oh right, I thought Greg had sorted the handling now (he worried about high speed float at one time).

Fair enough price at 49995 but they'd probably take 48k with UV to kickbox them down a bit. Selling a Riviera Turbo 4 takes some doing. An RS in that colour would have flown off the forecourt.

I think it sounds like a nice car if you can live with the colour. I saw a 996 cabrio in Riviera the other day, and it is a brave choice on the 'less aggressive' Porsches.

My favourite is probably Iris Blue metallic on swoopy Porsches, and mint green on lairy ones.

I sort of agree with Dom again on this one. The turbo is a fatter (phat?) car, It really suits dark colours, black looks the absolute nads on a 933tt and so dose midnight blue. The lighter primary shades give an impression of lightness, something that suits the lines, profile and purpose of a 993RS, not the TT IMO.

Bottom line is don't buy a car if each time you open the garage door your left with doubts as to whether it looks ok or not. Each time that door opens you should be congratulating yourself on purchasing a fine example of your chosen motor.

If a 993tt is what you want spend the extra couple of grand and get it in the best colour (for you), not one that you feel needs debate

The other thing is get test driving these cars. You'll find single turbos are very different to the twins...

Just test drove the 993TT and the power is unbelievable! I am used to driving a 993 Tiptronic and I know this obvious but they are a world apart. Now I have seen the colour in the daylight I really do love it, different I know but certainly stands out in the crowd. I am going to drive a 965 Turbo. Other than the way the power is delivered what else will I expect?
