Where to "cut in" for battery conditioner?

Have a CTEK and a cigarette lighter connector but this won't charge the battery on my Tamora. Any suggestions where to connect in without having to go direct to the battery?

Is the lighter socket live without the ignition switch on?

I suspect not but haven't verified this yet. Would rather have a connector somewhere else anyway as its clunky to connect from the middle of the car ( due to garage socket!!)

That could be why it can't trickle via the socket

Does the car have the Andersen socket in the sill? (my Tuscan did)..if so that could be used?

I moved my alternator fuse to the inner wing from under the airbox (had enought length on the stock cables to do so without new ones). This made it easy to attach the ctek charger flylead to the fuse terminal and a handy nearby earth on the wiper motor mount. The flylead is long enough to poke out the drivers side bonnet vent for the charger to plug into. This was better than trying to access the anderson connector as that is up against the wall to allow enough room to open drivers door in my garage.

Yes it will charge through the cigarette lighter with the ignition turned off under normal circumstances. If the battery is completely flat it's unlikely that a battery "conditioner" will charge it. You will need to use a proper battery charger to do that. The conditioner should only be used to keep the battery topped up as it only trickles in a very small amount of current.

Does the cigarette lighter actually work? Does the plug heat up when it's pushed in with the ignition on? This would prove if the circuit is working or not.

Mine is connected through the cigar lighter with ignition off.

Current battery is as good as new after 4 years.

Wish the fecking floods would stop so I can get some hooning in before winter lockdown.

She's not being thrashed enough these days.

And tivs were built to thrash.

I was here a couple of weeks ago, the CTEK will not recover your battery from a fully discharged condition. Unfortunately you need to charge the battery first. I now keep it conditioned via the cigarette lighter socket!

Issue sorted CTEK now functions via cigarette lighter.
