re routing engine to heater hose

My metal pipe that runs under the engine and connects to the heater hose has seen its last days


I have bought some new hose and am going to run it straight around.
Has anyone else done this? Which route did you take?
A/Down/across chassis/ up by oil filter
Or
B/Back along passenger side and around back of engine

I've taken route A for the time being but was wondering if it's the best way.

1. Remove the thin hose (1/2") between water pump and swirl pot
2. Plug the outlet from the swirlpot
3. Connect the hose (return from the heater matrix) to the water pump (the 1/2" inlet that become availible)
4. Plug the original return inlet on the water pump (where the hose on the picture was connected to the water pump)

I'm not sure if the removed hose (water pump/swirl pot) is 1/2" but it should be close to it. The heater matrix and the inlet on the water pump has the same size so it shouldn't be a problem with that hose. Ford has a plug that fits the 'big' water pump inlet that you have to plug, I don't have the #.

with this solution you don't need to route the hose around the motor any more, you will have two parallel hoses to the front of the motor over the rocket cover

That sounds like an interesting alternative.
If it works (and I've no reason to doubt you)it seems a neater system than the original.
Presumably all water flows are correct. I'll see what I can find in teh way of plugs.
