golf mk5 alarm goes off for no reason...?

Hi there, i have a golf mk 5 , 2006 , and the alarm goes off now and again for no apparent reason. it started last winter and then stopped for a few months but has now started again, so wierd, it went off when i arrived at work today while im still in it with the keys in the ignition.
it used to go off in the middle of the night but seemed to stop, no obvious reasons, any suggestions ?
