Help Needed - Temporary cover on an M3
Discussion
Sorry - another insurance thread.
I am going to Spa end of this month with a friend. The plan was for us to share the driving, but unfortunately I can't get added onto his policy on his M3 due to being 24.
I've had a look at a few temp insurance companies, but they won't quote me on an M3. Am I likely to come across anyone who will, or is this a dead end?
Thanks

Can you get the M3 added to your insurance for a few days?
Just asked and I apparantly can't as the car is not in my name, and it is illegal to insure the same car twice, as you could potentially claim twice on it.Also, had a look at HPi checks that offer free 7 days insurance, but that is through Swinton who would not insure me on short term cover

Any other ideas??
Insure4aday.co.uk covered me on a GranSport for a day last year (I was 21). it's not illegal to have two policies, it's illegal to claim on both for an incident. I'd ring up your insurer and just say you're borrowing a car while yours is in the garage. Done this in the past with no problems.
Failing that you could take out a new policy on the M3 and cancel it when you get back. It'll cost a bit more but it'll be worth it!

You're only just out of short trousers and you want to drive a "performance car" sir?
Sorry - I don't know anyone who covers sub 25 year olds - but look on the bright side - there is always next year!
Yep, sucks being me. I've driven far more powerful cars, and it's hardly as if I'm going to be powersliding around with the owner sitting next to me. Like you say, things will be much easier next year onwards when it comes to driving 'performance cars'.

Looks like we will end up taking his wife's C180 so he doesn't have to do all the driving. Not as exciting but I'm more looking forward to the F1.
