Replacing SUV tyres with something less sporty
Discussion
I’ve got sporty 18” run-flat tyres on my X5 which will wear out soon.
I’m looking to replace them with non run-flats to improve the ride quality and with a tyre that won’t leave me spinning all 4 wheels if I get caught on wet grass or light snow. It will be used 99.9% on road with just the occasional off-road excursion. I don’t mind compromising the grip slightly to achieve this, but would like to improve comfort and noise levels as well.
We don’t rely on the car during winter so a separate set of winter wheels & tyres would be overkill.
I have come up with the following options in the correct size and spec:
Michelin Latitude Tour HP N1
Conti Cross Contact LX Sport
Conti 4x4 Contact
Vredestein Quatrac 3
Anyone got any feedback or experience with these tyres? Any other recommendations?
Also, I’m not sure if the N1 (Porsche) label on the Michelin means I shouldn’t fit it to my BMW, even though it’s the correct size and spec.

I've recently fitted a set of General Grabber UHP tyres to my Range Rover - mid-priced tyre and have to say they are absolutely excellent - far outperform the previous Pirelli Scorpions for noise, comfort and grip in both the wet and dry and give no problems on wet grass etc although I have yet to test them in the snow!

The Quatrac doesn't really fit in with your list, being a siped all season tyre rather than a summer touring tyre.I’m looking to replace them with non run-flats to improve the ride quality and with a tyre that won’t leave me spinning all 4 wheels if I get caught on wet grass or light snow. The Contis sell well, but they don't half wear quickly. The Michelin is probably the best all round tyre on the market and being N rated doesn't mean you can't fit it, but I don't know how different it will be from the standard version.
What's the size?

I am edging towards the Michelins but all for sale seem to have the N stamp.
Just to confuse matters, there is also a Conti Cross Contact LX (ie. not sport) which seems closer to an all-season tyre like the Quatrac. I don't mind an all-season provided the comfort and on-road behavious isn't too compromised.
The Nokian G2 mentioned by C02000 is a winter tyre. I doubt that would be suitable for hammering along the M25 in August.

Have a look through here (ok it's for XC90's but info will apply to most SUV's I would think)http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=102...
On it there are people running winter tyres all year round with very good results inc wear rates
