new power found !!!
Discussion
Having been happy with the performance of the Tiv, i always thought it was not quite right.
After an annoying valve train noise which turned out to be the cam, i replaced it with a piper 285 and replaced everything back to its original state.
Due to some muppet working on it before i had not realised their mistake.
I did an elevated RPM timing advance check after speaking to Mark Adams.
It was then i realied that the vacuum advance tube had been connected backwards! and the one way valve was doing its job!!!
I know that this was like it before due to the fact that i had taken many digital photos prior to the work.
I cannot tell you the difference in performance now
and the car pulls like i always expected.
Now just waiting for the MA chip and i will be happy until next year !!

not to bad a few bits need to come before i can get stuck into it, honing bores tomorrow and fitting new pistonrings and bearings.
where did you get your rings etc from? i might give mine a going over at xmas?
Have you removed the engine? or in situ?

Engines in situ on stands, a bit of a pain but keeps you fit, using a large tray to wash it through with parrafin when finished and spray a little eng/stp mix before i fit t sump, got rings and piston from tvr power, bearings from local land rover dealer £14.00 a full set
tommorow fit sump and cam
not to forget to tourque up the nuts. steve.........
