PHer's,anyone able to recommend me either a good to high quality instant caffeinated coffee or a cheap grinder, cafetiere and again a reasonable quality bean! also this will be for office use so please no machines/grinders comparable to the size of a V12!

Can't beat a simple cone filter and lavazza coffee for price and simplicity.

Yes on the filter, but you can do so much better than Lavazza! (Smokey Barn as suggested above?)

Add a simple burr grinder and grind just before making.

A grinder's not practical in the office - I may wake the neighbours.

I've tried a decent variety of (supermarket) ground coffee and returned to Lavazza. Whether it's any good or not is a moot point - but I like it.

Grinding coffee really takes no time at all (unless you have a hand grinder) - most of the faff is actually brewing the coffee. I can understand people not wanting to muck about with fancy machines or having to dispose of grounds and the like. But not wanting to wait a couple of seconds for a grinder seems odd.

Can you recommend a good grinder? One that doesn't take up too much space?

Try classic coffee with ice-cream instead of milk.

Best flavour for buck coffee maker is a Bialetti machine. A bit more fuss to get the brew made, to be honest, but it can be a soothing ritual is you choose to look at it like that...

If you do go for a grinder, don't buy cheaply. Get a good quality burr grinder.

Edit: Oh, and drink the coffee brand that you like. I also like Lavazza, although it's not my first, second nor third preference.

I use a moka, and various pre-ground beans. But you would need access to a stove to do that.

Am well aware of the downsides and will buy a grinder as and when.

Moving in to September to a flat with a much bigger kitchen so it's on the list
