Quoting problem?

Just discovered this one:

If you single-quote a post that has some text followed by a quote, it gives you quote tags and nothing else in your reply!

Is this deliberate? I think having the text above the quote upsets it!

I will try to demonstrate in the next post:

The fact that I have typed at the top of this post will stop the single quote working properly and if you try it you will just get [ quote=NiceCupOfTea] [ /quote] tags and no text...

It's always done that since the introduction of "quote all" / "quote single"

Some posters always input their text above the quote when quoting (feck knows why), so if you quote them, you have to sort the formatting.

Not quite as old as the omission of first character when quoting bug which has been around for even longer. STill can't spot a pattern to it though.
Actually, not seen it for a while - has it been fixed?
