In advance if the Porsche track day at Brands on the 21st is it an idea to put my tyres down to circa 25 psi just b4 we start the sighting laps ahead of the impending increase in pressure once I lean on them a bit?

Get them warm and then drop the pressure - should be just a bit higher than normal for track.

drive than deflate, if you deflate first, tyre movement will generate excess heat.

What tyres do you have on the car at the moment ? - 888's or similar are very tempremental & you will need to come in fairly often to check them to make the most of your day or they tend to go off very quickly without to much warning

Run them at 2.6/3.0 when warm. That's what I do on the turbo. You can't do too many laps on those at one time - they get a bit soapy when hot.

Yes soapy is a good description of what happens. What's that in PSI btw ?

That seems high. I run them alot lower than that on the road

What car? This is for a 997 turbo. You might have different numbers.

I have 2.3/2.7 when cold. Go to 2.5/2.9 when warm on road. So +0.1 for track is good.

forget PSI imo

run them at the right pressure for your car and geo, driving stye, you can you this with a pyrometer or even a cheap laser temp gun.

I find most people run to soft because of forum talk and racers doing 20 hard laps which track day goers copy the set ups.

I would take no advice and buy a £20 laser temp gun, and then just drop them so the centres are not hotter than the 2 sides.

I only do 5 or 6 laps at a time and did not change my pressures, the car was fine, yes I tested them and they were a little over inflated but not by much so I left them alone. 2 psi would have corrected it any way. but people let out loads.
