Hi

Girlfriend was in asda - went riund a car - got close reveresed a little and was about to drive off when rough looking guy said she had touched his car.

She denied it and started to drive off.
She saw he was taking her license plate no and stopped.

She called me and i went diwn there.

He said hed accept 60 quid.
Mhe sid there were scruffs and scratched to rear corner light and big scratches to paint above and below bumper strip on corner.

Yes our car has a slight indentationat a similar height - but nothing else.

The scratches to the other car were on a curved bumper/panels.
Mi cant see for the life of me she could have done all that.

Apparantly there was another witness who arrived after the event who gave hi tel no.

Now there were several hundreds of pounds damage - almost certainly not caused by our car - id say impossible.

He was willing to take 60 quid which i gave him stupidly.
Mhe got all shirty when i asked for hi proof of identity.
He stormed off.

He didnt know the numberplate - had to back to his car to look - said it was his sons xar.

Said he needed to get off somewhere.

All sounds dodgy to me - didnt see him ever go into his car at any time.

But he did write out reg number down and took the tel no of the witness who arrived after.

Opinions?

Should i contact my ins company?
Or just sit tight and hope for the best?

Im thinking even if it was his car he knows she didny do all that - 2 panels/a light and bumper strip - and hed settle for 60 quid?!
His sons car and doesnt know number plate.
Iwants to get off somewhere.

Prob shouldnt worry - but shes only just passed her test and i have 4 yrs ncb - unprotected - ulp!

ThAnks

I think that's called idiot tax and you got nothing in writing to say that money was full and finial payment for the damages. Not that you should have paid if you dispute the damage. I would tell your insurance as he's got your details and a whiplash for 5 adults will me filed soon.

I was wondering the same thing, but he seems to do it on his other posts too. Although it's at its worst in this one.

The £60 the guy took of you is meaningless, probably scammed him.

Nonon was in the car.

Yes i was an idiot.

Dont have my glasses on so poor typing - sorry.

I agrred to 60 - wrote out something on a paper.
Asked for his reg no - he went to his car to look.

I asked him to sign. He did.

Then i asked for proof of identity and i offered mine.

At that point he got pissed off and said he do it through insurance and started to walk off without exchanging details.
He tore up what we had written.
I then offered him the 60 quid as i def dont want the possibility of messed up insurance for both girlfriend and myself.

He too it and left.

You've been had and will more than likey claim to. I feel sorry for you as you seem to be a nice guy and he intimidated you in to giving him 60 pound.
